SEMAGLUTIDE (OZEMPIC)

HOW DOES SEMAGLUTIDE WORK?

Semaglutide is the generic form of Ozempic. It has been recently approved by the FDA for weight loss and it may help to lower your Hemoglobin A1C. Semaglutide, is a once per week subcutaneous injection given in your abdomen. It works by lowering high blood sugar and increasing the amount of insulin that is released, lowering the amount of glucagon released and by delaying gastric emptying. Semaglutide also controls appetite, thus helping you reduce the amount of food that you want to eat.  Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonist. It is recommended that this route of weight loss only be used by individuals looking to lose at least 20 lbs or more. The treatement we offer is for an initial three months of therapy, with an option to continue after the three months if you still have not reached your goal and you feel that you are making progress. If you feel after the first three months that this option is not working for you then or Practitioner can review other options with you.
